Only two weeks after Castro’s death, Juana H. Espinoza Gongora, veteran of Cuban Revolution, was moved by remembering Fidel.
The beginning of the Cuban Revolution in 1959 marked a remarkable political, economic and social change in Latin America’s history, especially for Cuban women, who did not just participate in the military victory but also have played a prominent role throughout the building of the socialist nation. Thanks to this social policy, Women represent about 60 percent of the country’s students, and 45 percent of the active population, but over 66 percent of professions such as doctors, researchers and engineers.
